I teach logic. And it's really quite silly that I'm getting downvoted for stating an obvious truth.

But I'll say it again - a conjunction is a *kind* of connective - the one we mark with "And", or "but" or "however" or a whole lot of other words that *have the same function*. It connects two claims by *conjoining* them. That's why it's called a conjunction.

"Or" is a different connective. It's called a "disjunction".

You should check the dictionary, and you'll see that conjunctions are just what I say they are.
