Yes, but it is anything but a BIFL type item. It may last you 5 years, but by then the storage capacity will be crap. Backup batteries are a limited life span item. It's just how the chemistry works out.

Pelican does have a line of "air" cases that are slightly lighter, if that's what's kicking you over the price limit. But they're not a ton lighter. Also, go for a case without wheels to save a bit more weight.

This is why it might work in a closet, set to motion activated, where you only need it for a few minutes at a time. But not gonna cut it for extended use.

Dude, if you're using electrical wire cutters to chop heavy gauge barbed wire, then no shit it's gonna break.

I'm at about 13 years on mine, with me every day, and still going strong. Unfortunately I had a + that was confiscated at an airport when I forgot I was wearing it. The replaceable wire cutter blades are clutch. The regular Wave is still pretty nice though.

Correct, I moved for work recently. Good sleuthing. Cambridge was one of my all time favorite places to live. I miss that shitty walkup with 6' ceilings.

Look, this is a stupid idea, but it is adjacent to a smart idea. Maybe you should go talk to the mods at some other neighboring cities and ask them what they do to be successful. Ask them about what rules they set for their members, what rules they set for their mods, and how they go about establishing effective leadership. Running a functioning sub isn't a mystical secret - lots of people manage it just fine.

Careful spelling out the "b word" on this sub. It can get you banned.
I'd argue there isn't really a high intensity bcycle argument. There is a high intensity anti-bcycle argument. The conversation generally goes something like this:
- Hi, I would like to get to work/school/grocery without getting smooshed plz
- Ha ha lolz I fantasize about running over spandex clad [insert your slur of choice]
- Can we not do the whole murder thing?
- Aaaarg why are b*cyclists so mean to me! Help help, I'm being oppressed!
As to how it became a culture war, I'm not really sure. Most people riding their b*kes are just having a good time. I think to people like our beloved moderator, seeing that is an afront to their way of life. They're absolutely miserable in their cars, and angry that some people aren't. But who knows. I ride the forbidden mode of transit, so my opinion doesn't matter here 🙄

And sometimes all it takes is banning everyone who disagrees with you.

Wait wait wait. You banned everyone who said the b word because we should be "working together to listen and solve problems." Help me understand the logic there.
For christ sake I'm afraid to type out the b word for fear of retaliation! How is that "working together to listen and solve problems?" How can a community function when one side of a conversation wields ultimate power to silence all opposition?

Pretty hilarious that the one, singular lesson everyone agreed on from your petty tyrant tantrum was "have multiple mods", and that's the one thing you absolutely refuse to do.

Gee, I wonder why there are a bunch of new accounts in this sub after the mod blanket banned half the sub.

I got one of these as a gift when I was ~10 years old. 20 years later with daily use, the plastic coating was starting to crack a little so I got another. I absolutely love this thing. It's just flexible enough to keep keys from stabbing you when they don't sit quite right. https://www.acehardware.com/departments/hardware/keys-and-accessories/key-accessories/5936737
