One of my favorite places to visit (it's been a while, though - I hope the goats are under control by now)

It's amazing how they can just disappear - even from sleeping - instantly.
The temptation (I don't do it) to scare my cat all the time for entertainment is huge.

Yes, I'm happy to be corrected about Shotwell, but I share the same impression as an outsider watching the past few years.

We also forget, too, that during the 2004 tsunami, way less would be carrying around personal recording devices in Thailand, so we can only imagine with this how bad it was there.
(My cadaver dog and I helped with cleanup work in Phuket and the aftermath was reminiscent of this)

Lutheran, here. We don't do this. What goes on in those booth things? Do you really tell them things you've done 'wrong' or do you just pray with them or is it like light therapy or something?
I know I can look it up, but I'd like to get an insider's take if you feel comfortable sharing.

This totally reminds me of 720 Productions in Pawnee, Indiana.

Yes. I have a friend who occasionally goes to 'psychics'. At first I wanted to ask, "Uh, how much do you pay them??" But after hearing her description about how they talk about her relationships, worries, stresses, hopes, etc.
The psychic who sees many people a day, doesn't give her false promises or anything, but is more like a therapist. And honestly, in this particular situation, I'd say better than a therapist. And cheaper.

Exactly why I stay quiet about it and about it with my religious friends - if it's not harming you or anyone else, I'll just watch from the sideline.

I (disappointingly) have two close friends who buy into it. I don't shame them or anything of course, but listening to them when they get together is... is something else. "You'll be a teacher to someone this week." // "oooh I WILL, because my daughter has--" etc.

Sort of a technology skip. Much of subsaharan Africa went from no landlines to all mobile phones (hyperbole, obviously, but you know what I mean). I know there's a term for it, but can't think of it.
No electricity grid to all micro-systems: solar/hydro (again, hyperbole).

I love it. It looks like ABBA after their concert in Glasgow. But I also love the textures and all the sensory bits, too, of course.
