It will clog in the most difficult to access location.
If you check there first, it will be clogged some where else - unless its not, in which case it is a different problem.

Since you haven't bothered to provide any information about what is currently on the door: a Schlage 2 key deadbolt is your answer.
Your lease almost certainly requires that the landlord can get access, so you will need to give them a key.
