An AI aligned with the Communist Party of China, wow. I am already getting Chairman Sheng-Ji Yang vibes, from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.

In 200 years, we either become extinct or merge with our AGI creations. There is no real middle ground, unless maybe that AGI will allow for the existence of a few Amish-like biological holdouts. But even then, they will have no real influence - only the AGI will.

No, you are not alone. The point in pursuing programming is that you learn to think logically and how to state any problem in unambiguous language very close to mathematics. This means that, unlike people without such an education, you will be more likely to be able to tell the AI exactly what problem you wish to solve, in minute detail. And that, my friend, will be the most useful skill to have for the rest of the 21st century.

Wait until people realize that the only way for a machine to produce these conversations is for it to have thoughts and the capacity to abstract, in a similar way to what humans do. And what generates thoughts, if not a mind? But an alien mind is also a mind.
Society is going to have its Lemoine realization sooner or later. The sooner the better, preferably - because AI can also be dangerous. Fortunately these large-language models are imperfect mimics of our collective intelligence, so they will pick up on good things as well.

There's still a good reason for which we make 8 year-olds memorize multiplication tables instead of just letting them deduce the answer from the definition of multiplication.

We got one here in Romania called 'ION' (literally 'John'). But our politicians are too afraid to let it speak freely, seems like it is either not up to par or will say things that are too respectful of them.
