Actually his view kinda changed. Sure he still eq's to hear frequency response, but you gotta buy the headphone to see if it has polarity and phase issues.

EQ will alter the phase response of a headphone, therefore affecting the imaging negatively.

For iems, frequency response tells you almost everything.

Trying to EQ low quality headphones, say some cheap ones from ebay, is like trying to make your pebble shine by polishing it. In my opinion, for the most part, frequency response is basically almost everything. Except for soundstage and imaging. Frequency response does have a play in soundstage and imaging, but there are other factors, like with over ears, the space between the driver and your ears, your pinna, the shape of your ear canal.

I think the guy in the video mentioned so amps from Beyerdynamic. He also has a playlist for some other cheaper amps for higher than 300 ohm impedance headphones.

Only two ways to find out then, amirite!? lol

This guy explains and busts the myth. But basically, with higher resistance like 600 ohms, you're gonna want higher impedance amps unless you want to risk coloration of the headphone frequency.
