I was really into horror in my early teens (early 80s) and would trade books with my best friend's mom. We were big fans of James Herbert and Graham Masterton.

Read this as part of a university course in the late eighties. Spotting that "rapport vs report" stuff to this day, but I must say I think those styles have become less entrenched since the book was written.

I work with a guy who lost a pile on this, not "I'm ruined" amounts but enough that his coworkers got a lot of mileage out of taking the piss out of him over the years.
