Reply to What books should I read to become well read? What books should I start with and which books should I avoid until my reading ability has improved? by joekidd1916
Start with the classics.
For example - The Catcher in the Rye, The Master and Margarita, Crime and Punishment, 1984, The Sound and the Fury, Siddhartha, etc. (All easily readable and entertaining)
It is a completely different experience listening to an audio book, and actually reading it. In my opinion, if your goal is to be very well read, you should definitely read the books.

Oh, absolutely. I remember everything.. How was I feeling, what was I thinking while reading certain passages. I tend to additionally praise books by “being good to me” based on the external events of a particular period in which they were current. (Obviously if I also enjoy the book itself.) It’s a peculiar, intense, but loving relationship. Intimate. The best kind.
