If OP stayed silent, I'm pretty sure the only difference would be the level of carnage done to her parents' bodies. The drunk driver was driving on the lane he wasn't supposed to be driving. It didn't matter if her parents tried to calm her down and got slightly distracted (while STOPPING on the side of the road) or if her dad stayed completely focused on the road and tried to avoid the collision. It always happens in a matter of seconds. Their fate was sealed as soon as Peter started driving, not when OP started panicking.
