I think western nations haven't come to realization, their views and their hit jobs like this BBC documentary on the PM Modi doesn't mean shit to the people of India.

Regular indian (not reddit echo chamber) views are pretty decent for Modi and his Russian Support. Particularly because Modi is following policies which are best for his country and to not just follow the rest of Western alliances.

I believe not many countries have distinction today to be on good terms with the US and Russia at the same time. Just like Europe, India has been able to source Oil from Russia because it has to worry about its energy security needs.
