Yeah Amazon doesn’t have 2.2m employees. It’s closer to 1.5m.

Weak graphic. The two most prominent pieces of info are the name of the oil field and the country where it’s located - probably the two least interesting things. Switch the hierarchy to highlight number of barrels, specific field location, owner of the field (and nation of the owner), total barrels produced, expected number of barrels left, age of field, biggest customers of a field, etc.

This list should probably have Walmart on it. They actually have more retail revenue than Amazon — about $570b — but only about $60b is e-commerce.
Also, looks like Amazons revenue is including AWS, which isn’t really e-commerce.

The term for this is 'financialization' and it is endemic across all industries. The assets generated from the core business are used to continue generating money through investments and other financial tools. Even (maybe especially) cultural institutions like museums or even universities fall prey to it.
