This speaks to me.

Growing up I couldn't have possibly imagined that my actions would have any significant effect on others around me, I felt so incredibly invisible and meaningless and worthless, I did anything I could to feel like I mattered and to be noticed.

Only now, like 20+ years later do I realize that I myself am sometimes "the protagonist in someone else's movie" who's actions actually make or break someone else's day.

It's such a mind fuck when you realize that you actually do mean something to other people and your influence actually makes a noticeable difference in their life path just as someone else you liked made a difference in yours long ago.

According to who? What media that you watch tells you that? It's amazing how it's so hard for people to see the world through any perspective that doesn't confirm their bias...

I do find that if I'm exceptionally busy throughout the day, I find myself less tempted to snack. Which is not to imply that I always eat when I'm bored, I'm getting much better about that, but I'm definitely less likely to munch on something if my brain or body is completely focused on something else. Hell, even just driving all day I'll be less tempted to stop and eat vs sitting at a desk computer browsing Reddit.

Truth be told, I'd prefer a smaller truck. Like a Maverick size, but with a shorter cab and longer box. And RWD. And a V8. But since nobody makes such a thing, I have to settle for what I have.

Yes, a minivan could probably haul MOST of whatever I'd ever need to haul in my truck, but minivans are FWD and uh....don't look as good as an F-150. Now, vans DO exist that have RWD and lots of cargo space, but they're not any smaller than my truck nor do they look as good.

If a guy could get a RWD, 350hp+ V8, midsized SUV/CUV with 8 full feet of length behind the front seats and a nice flat load floor with rear seats folded down that also looked good, all for a reasonable price, I'd be all over it.

Edit: As it turns out, the new Ford Explorer actually is RWD AND it seems to be able to fit a full sheet of plywood behind the front seats. And it can be had in either 365hp or 400hp forms. It's just not a V8:( Very impressive nevertheless.
