Nice to see youngsters appreciating true classics. I’m in my 60’s. When my kids were little and we would take road trips, I played Beatles, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley rather than Raffi, Sesame Street, Disney stuff and they are mid 20’s now and both love the classics as well as the current stuff. I like a good bit of the newer sounds but tough to stand up to the oldies. I’m not stuck in time, I listen to a lot of current music, but other than a few bands (lookin at you King Gizz) it’s all pretty derivative. My opinion only.

Not necessarily “modern” (depending on how you define that term) but check out Planet P Project’s “Pink World”. Prog rocky concept album from mid 80’s by former Rainbow keyboardist Tony Carey… a little known gem… tells the story of a boy who couldn’t talk but had telepathic / telekinetic powers, and his rise and fall…
