MLMs are unethical and unsustainable long term (just look up exponential growth and why MLMs can’t possibly grow forever). In a group focused on BIFL, the ethics and sustainability (even if we’re just talking about economic sustainability) is a factor for determining whether you should buy something.

No, not necessarily. Generally speaking, you find heat-sealed seams on synthetic items meant to be worn as undergarments, base layers, or foundation garments to reduce bulk underneath other clothing. Honestly though, synthetic materials are really not ideal for BIFL. Natural fibers are significantly more durable, especially when you are taking care of them correctly.

There are synthetic garments that will have heat-sealed seams, not glued. I think aside from added embellishments, clothing is not typically glued. And if you want long-lasting clothing, embellished items would not be the way to go. Almost all shoes have adhesive, but I can’t think of a way to actually avoid those. I would say if you truly want items that are definitely stitched together, stick with natural fibers. Things made of cotton, linen, silk, and wool can pretty much only be constructed with actual stitching.

This is really promising. The neurological effects of my covid infection back in 2020 have not had any improvement, whereas the cardiopulmonary effects have improved somewhat in the last few months for me (finally). It’s terrifying, to be completely honest, and the other recent study that revealed that they have found the virus in people’s brains on autopsies didn’t quell my anxiety. I’ve really worried about the long term neurological implications of allowing covid to run rampant because the infections are mostly “mild” now. Hopefully this is a solution to that.

I would buy individual pieces that you know you’ll use and get All-Clad stainless steel, Le Creuset, and Lodge cast iron. Take care of them, don’t get more than what you actually need, and just keep them forever (and pass them down). That’s going to have the biggest impact overall.
