I’ll share my reason why it hasn’t happened.
Jobs are not just about skills. They are also about responsibilities. And you can’t fire ai. Or hold it accountable. Unless you wanna hear “I’m just a model dumbass what did ya think?” 😂
Seriously. There’s more to a hire than churning butter.

Don’t underestimate the infallible human mind. It’s ability to lie to itself. To evaluate the world with distorted lens. To reflect with perpetual bias. To be obsessed with self-righteous than truth-discovery.
Our broken thinking will fuck us over more than ai could.
What’s funny is it doesn’t matter how eductad the mind is. Technologists to data scientists, I have seen lie to themselves and not blink at the recognition how faulty their thinking was.
It’s all a learning lesson for the few of us who cautiously guard our thinking apparatus. Gimme me a like if you are one of them.

It’s gonna be like OS. Some closed and some open sources. Transformers are open sourced and not exactly rocket science. Plus with alpaca and dolly, anyone can have an LLM on their desktop doing narrow domain tasks like responding to customer queries or even coding. With your copilot in an airgapped environment you can shove in corporate secrets.
Imagine a cybersecurity company with founders with immense knowledge in the domain. They transfer their knowledge to an internally hosted model.
Now any junior associate can generate pro-level strategy or find solutions. Making the whole company a monster in productivity.
That’s where we are headed. And your Uptrain will be critical in starting the revolution.
I’ll gladly pay uptrain for premium training data set.

A calculator that deliberately miscalculates mathematical values entered by a nationality or regional group could lead to absolute misery and death.
It could make their buildings and bridges unsafe.
This is why we shouldn’t have calculators.
Let’s just go back to the Stone Age and ban stones too.
Let’s just fuckin ban existence all together 😂

He did an about face on his bullish ai deployment attitude after Demis did that times interview the other day and gave a warning about going too fast. His argument was weak but sama seems to have taken it to heart.
Excellent analysis by the op.

This has been my stance until recently. I’d ask, would Von Neumann have named these ai and neural networks? Terms of biology, mind you. Or would have gone the route of Matrix Based Linear function Optimization Techniques, etc etc.
Seeing chatgpt, and knowing gpt4 is “like seeing the face of god”, as per one developer, I’m wondering if for all practical and functional purpose we have serious intelligence coming out of these LLMs. You can’t deny how insanely good this shit is. It was giving me jokes from ancient era and they were fucking hilarious.

Bullshit answer: the world will change for the better for all of us so finally we can achieve creative nirvana and sip teas with our ubi. Oh and we don’t know anything about gpt4 so stop the speculation I’m puking yuk.
Reality check: many people’s job from marketing to assistance to writing are pretty monotonous and mundane, and can be replaced with a far cheaper alternative with little to no loss in customer experience. GPT4 has 100 trillion parameters, same as human brain. Altman says it might have beat the Turing test. And chatgpt right now is on tech two years old. So yeah world order is about to append and may we wisely evolve.
