I had no idea about any of these, and I consider myself a fairly solid Goonies fan. Crazy story of a life apparently!

This is often true of any major historical site. For the Aztecs and Mayans, they often built pyramids over/atop other (previous) smaller ones. Generally the site location is what was important; either a source of water, a spring, specific fault lines, etc.
The old saying about real estate was true even for them: Location, location, location!

The more you read on the story the crazier it gets. He's a "pastor", working with at-risk people fighting addiction issues...while being a drug dealer. He is married, but lives with his GF in one town while his wife and MIL live with 14 convicted sex offenders! It's just a whole lot of "Are you f'n kidding me?!" moments.
