Reply to I can't stand found footage style films by [deleted]
I kinda loathe them too. Most of them are very lazy as horror movies. Quite often they tried to hide the poor quality of the film by making it found footage and I mean in the sense that it feels unnecessary and tacked on just to hide the badness of it. I understand they are often low budget and thats fine but it doesnt make them any better and you can do wonders with a low budget, even as so simply that you have a fresh take on it but most of them are very cookie cutter average.

Reply to Is there a reason Denzel Washington's filmography features so heavily on airline movie catalogs? by MeijiDoom
Denzel thought that he didint have enough exposure with his films yet and he wanted to rectify that and the simplest solution was to buy the airline (Delta) and show the movies on-air.

Nothing bad about Escape From NY. Lets not talk about LA tho, it somehow managed to make Bruce Campbell dull and unfunny.

I embarrassed to even admit this but I enjoyed The Predator. I recognize all its flaws and faults but its just so horribly dated and bad in almost every way I just laughed all the way through it. It felt like the whole movie was made as a joke and the makers just didint bother to tell anyone it was a parody.
Now that I think about it the same goes for Batman V Superman, except it didnt feel like a joke, just an enormous amount of bad ideas and even worse way of implementing those ideas. It was hilarious.
I guess you could categorize both of these as a guilty pleasure of mine.

It paved the way for the overuse of effects and cgi in the place of a good story, characters etc. And like I said it was the first pebble in an avalanche of rocks.

Its WWII in space with most of the themes taken from older serials and japanese movies. It didnt start from nothing, it took massive inspiration from tons of stuff. Its a classic tale told multitude of times before and theres nothing wrong with that, just saying.

I would argue it changed them for the worse. Ofc gradually and they were just the first stone to get rolling and it probably wouldve happened regardless but still.

I find both Avatars to be complete snoozefests. CGI, no matter how good, doesnt matter when your characters, story and themes are completely played out and done so much better in other works.
