Reply to comment by TheSausageKing in CPD shooting by unclechuqule

I say this as someone very inclined to believe the CPD, but: as of right now, we only have their say-so that the guy with the machete rushed them. There have been many, many cases of police shooting people fleeing them, and then subsequently lying about the shot person having been attacking them when they opened fire, and even some proven cases of police planting weapons afterwards to substantiate bogus claims.

That's the reason there's all this negativity towards the police. Because police have been caught so many time lying about "having" to shoot someone who "attacked" them, who, evidence later revealed, had done nothing of the sort.

But like I said, my inclination is to trust CPD because they are CIT trained, and I've seen them handle mental ill people in trouble with skill and gentleness. I hope I am not proved wrong to have that faith in them.

As a history teacher, you're probably going to want to do all of the following:

  1. The entire damn Freedom Trail. Over, like, multiple days so you can spend adequate time at sites along the way. The Old State House, the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere's House, the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill Monument, etc etc etc.

  2. The annual reenactments of the Battle of Lexington and Concord.

  3. Plimoth Plantation. 17th century.

  4. Old Sturbridge Village. 18th century.

We also have a ton of museums and historical sites, depending on your specific historical interests. For instance, if you have an interest in the great age of whaling, you'll want to check out the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. If you're interested in the industrial revolution, you'll want to check out the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation. If you're interested in military history, you might want to check out some of the historical forts that are still around. If you're interested in early American domestic architecture, you might head up to Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, NH; if you're interested in maritime history, you might head down to Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT.

> Well the in network doctors are probably good too, you just want to see specific doctors, it sounds like.

Not necessarily. I'm paying extra for a better class of plan, myself, because when I moved to Arlington, I discovered that there were many PCPs who took my previous HMO insurance, and probably many of them were great, but all of them belonged to one of three practices, all of which practices had bad reputations for things like billing practices and wait times, and also all of which were owned by the same hospital chain, which has some policies I can't stand. So in an important sense, no, I had no choice at all if I wanted to see a doctor in my town.
