Reply to Does anyone thinks the pacing of Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was a little off at the mid point? by jcgonzmo
It absolutely drags toward the end; a good 15-20 minutes could be shaved off with no noticeable difference.

This nearly ruined Bayonetta 2 for me. The game encourages you to explore the level with rewards and extra challenges (that when completed net you more rewards). But at the same time a fucking kid follows you around going “TRY TO KEEP UP! BAYONETTA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
And he doesn’t go away for almost half the fucking game.

Reply to Tim Robbins should have won Best Actor for The Shawshank Redemption over Tom Hanks for Forrest Gump by Scmods05
While I don’t think he should’ve won I would’ve accepted his nomination over John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. Not that I don’t like the role but he makes way less of an impression than either Robbins or Hanks that year.

So it’s aged because of how it treats his cheating wife but not because of its depiction of Muslim terrorists? Shows where your priorities are.

If they were gonna include movies that aren’t even actual biopics they could’ve tossed in Eddie & the Cruisers.

I just view it as a way of saying “make the story personal to you.” A lot of writers fall into a trap of trying to make their story have broad appeal so they write with bland details with no personal touch.
When crafting a story, even if the subject matter isn’t necessarily something you’ve experienced, don’t be afraid to let personal tastes dictate the characters and settings. It’s these little details that add up and craft more memorable experiences.

I would have at least a tiny bit of sympathy. Tickets for a week’s all expenses paid vacation in the Bahamas for only $1200 (or less for certain specials). It was naive to think they would actually deliver that but if they had it would’ve been a hell of a deal.

A Goofy Movie? Aside from one scene involving a waterfall the movie has very little in the way of peril and no villains. It’s got a badass soundtrack too.

I only saw this movie for the first time a few years ago and was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think labeling it as a Christmas movie is a big disservice; this is a drama film on the level of something like Forrest Gump.

The Before Trilogy (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight) is a masterpiece of dialogue. The second film in particular has incredible conversations that take place in real time.

Reply to Is A Clockwork Orange difficult to read for Americans due to the dialect of English? by chinawcswing
I watched the movie before I read the book and having Malcolm McDowell’s performance in mind really helped contextualize the language of the novel. It’s similar to how Shakespeare can be difficult to understand without seeing it performed.
Maybe not the whole movie but try watching a clip or two to see how they read it; the movie is very faithful to the book.

Reply to TIL that the 1983 film 'Scarface' is actually a remake of a 1932 feature of the same name. Both are based on a 1929 novel. by GremlinBandit
Is that really TIL material? Like, they dedicate the movie to the original director and actor at the end.
