Started "The Goldfinch" with enthusiasm then did not finish it. I got to the point where I didn't care about the any of the characters anymore and was getting weary of MC's obsessive guilt about the painting. In contrast, "A Prayer for Owen Meany" was a memorable story. I only read it once but still think about it years later.

I've actually made incredible steak & cheese sandwiches with thinly, bias-sliced venison steak sauteed with a little butter (or oil) and onions.

York County has the oddball Indian Steps Museum right on the Susquehanna River and the Mason-Dixon Trail runs along the river, too. I've never encountered another person on the Mason-Dixon trail...not as popular as AT.

I read the book twice and watched the movie. The movie was pretty but the book had a lot more depth/ complexity to it. The sense of a community's survival was such a big piece of the book.
