Ill take Margin Call over Big Short. I just love the cast. And Jeremy Irons puts on an absolute clinic in dramatic acting. He does so much with a look, a moment of silence. The first scene he is in the board room is simply a brilliant piece of acting.

Walk on clouds leads me to believe you want gushy padding. Shoes like that are disposable. The rubber padding wears out by design so your joints don’t during high impact exercise.
Then on the other end of the spectrum hard soles boots like Nick’s are as long lasting as footwear gets, very comfortable and ergonomically healthy once broken in. But you will never call them gushy.

Absolutely. I think…and this is controversial I know…it’s one of the best American films I have ever seen. It has everything, and very well done.
It’s beautifully shot, written, acted, scored….everything.

A Schott peacoat is in this price range.
Timeless classic looks, more practical and a reliably BiFL brand.

I have a bonded leather chair and it does get wear marks on the seams on one side. About once a year I patch it with vynil/ leather crack filler.
Honestly this is not BiFL but very fair service for less than half the cost of the typical chair recommended here.
Yes SC and HM are best in class. No argument. But my chair is not garbage one year later or even five of daily use. Not even close.
And that brings me to another point. Good maintenance is often as or more important than good quality.

Or a canary in the mineshaft. It wouldn’t be the first company that built a loyal following with excellent quality only to cash in churning out cheap, garbage versions of their product.
Looking at you Kitchen-aid mixers and Remington Arms.

I have had my Lamson Sharp 10” chef for 17 years of daily use. Zero complaints and absolutely on par in quality with the better German blades. I just bought an 8” chef from them a year ago. The same great quality with perhaps a bit better finishing.

I haven’t owned any but as far as I can tell all of the quality PNW boot makers are on par. But Whites are maybe the most expensive.

You can get them lined but yeah. Danner makes some insulated boots like their Ft Lewis. And composite toes are probably a nice option for cold environments.

PNW logger boots. They are very expensive but will give you a stacked heal, and are as nearly endlessly repairable as footwear gets.
