Not surprised. At least here in the US. Coworker/manager in a different dept. Has a BA and is about to get a masters. Along with his gf. They still cant afford rent eith what they are making. he a maintenance crew manager. Shes uuuh..I think shes earning credits via working a nursing home or something.

They might be able to buy a home later in life. But hes 5 yrs behind me (Im 39) and his gf is 24. So shell be able to enjoy a basic home. Specialty in a field doesnt always = great pay.

I know nothing about neuroscience. But Ive noticed collected themes throughout my studies. Just because one thing ticks off 3 boxes out of 6, doesnt mean you have an accurate result. In that I means there is likely sooooo much more information that has to be looked at before even approaching a reasonable conlcusion.

You need to strengthen yourself in a lot of ways. Respect is earned. Workout, learn to socialize more outside of them, study. Do not be afraid to bite back. If it breaks the friendship than so be it. You have to imrpove yourself and then a new group will come to you over time. Just be sure to respect your new group as you understand what its like to be on the bad end.

I had a mini panic attack once while driving down the freeway one night due to this. I thought "Just one turn of wheel and I could potentially kill myself and others. that all it would take." So then I gripped onto thr steering wheel pretty hard. Kind of "to make sure" that didnt happen. as though some outside force was going to magically make it happen.

Ive been racking my brain over getting an enterprise switch (very expensive piece od equipment) to practice setting up a network on. More experience and a story to tell during interviews. But oof...boy those are expensive.

One thing that has always bothered me with attitudes, in general, is that a good attitude doesnt mean much as far as raises go. But a bad one is immediately notched as "We dont like you and thus will not hire you."

I agree with your viewpoint on the certs not meaning much. From what others have told me, it seems to be there purely for HR to take a look at. Ive worked on my own computers since 2015 or so. Now Im looking into networking and ultimately cybersecurity.

Thanks for listening to my bit of venting and your aspect of things. Helps to get a better grip on my industry.

Pretty much how I feel. Got my A+ cert. Tried for a few job openings. If I do get an interview, the inevitable experience question comes up. Ive been messing around with computers for a while. But because I have no formal job regarding that position, I do not get the position. Very frustrating.
