When the series was on threat of cancellation in season 3 there is a meta reference to The Bluth Company seeking a buyout from the Home Buyers Organization. (HBO)

Which you should pay otherwise you could potentially starve.
Farming is an expensive business. Lucrative yes but it can also devastate you entirely if you have a bad season. Farming is subsided to prevent market crash and maintain consistent soil quality. (Effectively you will be paid not to grow)
Most farmers actually understand economics better than you.

I hope you like food my friend, water too, and lumber, and most factory produced products because it doesn’t come from your rooftop garden.

If you can look past Danny Masterson’s Drama. Check out Netflix’s The Ranch.
It’s legitimately the same cast but with a Colorado ranching theme.

I mean if you don’t want subtly sure.
Steven Universe is a show made for young adults and 20 somethings.

The boys still has one of my favorite set up for a tv series, (has it been consistently good…eh debatable)
But Hughie going from retail electronic sales representative to a secret government sanctioned terrorist that kills super heroes to a congressional aide sounds crazy on paper but works perfectly.
The boys as a group also…pure perfection.

Eh I don’t think this counts, BSG came later and was built using another property that long exist, just a bunch of Moore’s spec scripts got repurposed for BSG and that was after the miniseries.
