The owner of that place, Milton, is a super nice dude. I used to always go into his shop in Dormont when I was around 10 years old. Like last year about 18 years later I had a MacBook stolen and hopped around to all of the local shops to see if it had been pawned and when I stopped in there he immediately asked me if when I was a kid I used to go to his other shop all the time. I’m about 2 feet taller, had a beard at the time, and was wearing a suit. Absolutely could not believe he remembered me.

“Deputy District Attorney Jan Necessary argued that the bartender couldn't verify any of Farnan's testimony.”

Hey, Jan is my neighbor! She just retired. Her and her husband are awesome.

What’s funny is one of my lawyer’s last names is Farnan. I texted him and asked him if he was related to this guy and he replied, “Not related to him. Never met him. After he killed someone in Bloomfield a few years ago, I was asked that question 1,000 times.” 😂😂😂clearly annoyed by it but I couldn’t help myself from asking.

So funny Eiben story. He owned C. Mel Eiben’s Jewelry shop downtown too. I was like 14 years old golfing at Frosty Valley and I get paired with C. Mel Eiben and his grandson. Now old man Eiben was VERY old at the time and the grandson was probably old enough to be my father. Had no business being anywhere within 1000 miles of a golf course as he could barely move. But I was a polite kid and listened to his stories the entire round with great fervor. Nearing the end of the round he tells me he wrote an autobiography and basically demands that I give him my address to send it to me. I complied thinking I was appeasing him and that it would be free and about a month or two later it comes packaged (autographed and all) in a large manilla envelope in the mail with a mailing address to send like $25 back for the book. I was a kid but I will never forget thinking, “Holy shit I got hustled by a 90 year old man.” It was hysterical. My next thought was, “How the Hell am I going to explain to Mom that I need $25 to send to this old guy for a book I didn’t want?”

The next time I go to my mom’s I’m going to have to do some digging around as I’m sure it’s still there hidden away somewhere.

His obituary even mentions the book, Forks in the Road. Based on my math he would have been about 84 so not quite as old as I thought but holy cow what a character.

I learned driving all throughout South Park. It’s like 25 mph the whole place. A month after getting my license I very stupidly got my first ticket on Corrigan at night for going like 45 mph. I genuinely wasn’t speeding to go fast or anything. I didn’t notice the speed signs and it didn’t dawn on me the entire time during practice that the entire park was the same speed limit and Corrigan is 4 lanes and just looks like it would be faster.

As an Ohio U alum I have never seen Athens referred to as eclectic 😂😂😂. It’s Heaven on Earth don’t get me wrong, eclectic not so much. If you are going to spend a weekend there you should pack an extra liver or two as it more than likely won’t be a relaxing getaway and if it is then you did it completely wrong. November isn’t a great time of year to visit. I would save Athens for September or October at the latest or the spring when things blossom.
