We really enjoyed it. Dined in with a party of 6, shared a bunch of smaller plates, liked everything and loved some of them. I particularly like their veggies, something that Sietsama highlights in this review, and the chicken lettuce wraps were one of our favorites. Only negative from our experience was price, which is pretty high but comparable to other restaurants for a nice night out. I probably wouldn’t order takeout at that price point.

I haven’t tried Tea Horse but it’s definitely on my list. Pepper House and Nanxiang Express are good, but are different sorts of restaurants, and I would rank the food I had at Peter Chang’s above either.

We got ours from Franks this year. Before moving to Columbia we would always go to a farm and cut it, but we have been underwhelmed by the trees at the local farms - too many people cutting too few trees I think.

Adler got way more negative press than Chen. There’s probably a pretty significant chunk of people who aren’t interested in the wild culture war stuff that Adler offered, but are receptive to other conservative themes on unions, redistricting, and student achievement.

We are using the correct word, and everyone knew exactly what was meant by it until like 10 years ago when a bunch of dweebs on the internet pushed up their fedoras and said “actually….”

What does “republic” mean, by the way? What is the principle upon which “republic, not a democracy” is founded? Or is it just semantics?

This is a silly meme of an argument. Democracy, broadly, is government based upon and responsive to the will of the people. That’s what people are referring to when we talk about preserving democracy. No one is suggesting that we should restructure into a direct democracy.

I am sympathetic to your point. Dog owners have the responsibility to make sure no one feels threatened by their animals. Your request, though, isn’t realistic - dog owners shouldn’t use public spaces at all? My dog occasionally barks at people. I am working on it. Should I have him shit in my house until I am 100% sure he will never bark at anyone again?
