Reply to Snow quality in the mountains, for skiing... Laurel Highlands or Seven Springs? by Der_Missionar
I skied on Friday. Amazing job of keeping the place open. 9 runs open and had two lifts running on the Backside of the hill to service three runs. Northface head wall would be no fun for anyone who is not very advanced. It was a mix of nice man made granules, sold Ice, dirt and around the snow guns that were blowing water pure wet sludge which will stop you in your tracks - I thought I could plow through and I took a huge double release - lucky I did not get hurt. At the high cost - and low coverage I would drive to Holiday Valley.

Reply to Looks like Spring is right around the corner.....Gardeners of Pittsburgh, what do you have planned for this year's growing season? by NineFootEightWeight
I buy seedlings from Blackberrymeadows.com- I usually sign up for a garden share- they provide the plants, seeds and garden plan- they also provide instructions and as season progresses provides seasonal additions to keep the garden growing until fall. Best investment ever. If you just want a one shot you can buy a garden in a box/ USDA certified organic- healthy plants make healthy food- no pesticides or dangerous chemicals and fertilizers- check them out. They are also seed savers of local varieties that do well in our climate

Play a card game, cook together your favorite meal, bake cookies, play hide and seek, go on a long walk, take a bus ride or ride the incline. Being together is the best gift of all. Crowded indoor play centers are not the only ways to have fun. Old school art projects and making your own dance club are always great. I would try to avoid money on messy wasteful activities that will take tons of clean up- most kids hate housework.

Blackberry Meadows is doing pork shares this fall. Great small family farm and the quality of the bacon, sausages, chops is excellent. They also sell chickens and turkeys- blackberrymeadows.com - they also sell fruit and veggies from the USDA certified farm and deliver to farmers market for pick-up. They are in Mt Lebonon today, Squirrel Hill tomortow and East Liberty on Monday. You can buy small quantities if you do not want a share.

Caliente- is not good pizza- the World Championship is a joke because they serve a less than memorable pie- Bloomfield and Aspinwall both bad. I will psss.
