If it's registered on septa key, its an easy process. Add new card, report previous card expired/lost and transfer balance.

If the numbers have worn off so you can't register it, i think they can transfer balance for you at septa hq 1234 market, unsure of the hours.

Be sure to register your new card! https://www.septakey.org/

It gets crowded and rowdy when it starts to get warm in the evenings on south street. If the atvs show up makes things out of control. There was a mass shooting at 4th and south, and others nearby.

I would personally not live on south im too old for the summer shenanigans there. If you were several floors up, and away from any bars, maybe its worth it.

Monks cafe is the #1 spot to get a beer in philly and happens to be right nearby Rittenhouse. They are also known for their mussels and frites. I prefer the duck.

Other spots to checkout in Rittenhouse: jose pistolas, black sheep, good dog, fado, misconduct. Fado clientele will vary greatly depending when you go, im told its a college bar in the evening, but i usually meet European soccer fans there earlier on the weekends.

Portland is cool, and lots of nature nearby, but a 6-8 hour drive. Its pre season, so you might be able to get a reasonable rental on the beach in old orchard beach and have a nice relaxing but chilly walk along the beach. I saw whales way in the distance when i was there in November.

If you like craft beer, Richmond is a great weekend trip, several world class breweries, some history, a nice art museum. Scotts addition is the main brewery/nightlife area

5 hours by amtrak, 2 to dc, 1hour engine swap in dc, 2 hours to Richmond.

Driving is highly variable, my record is 3.5 hours, but its been over 6 as well.

Unfortunately a driving city, so prepare to uber a bunch.

Philadelphia distilling (bluecoat gin) does tours that are pretty interesting. You need reservations. I think you can even get private tours but that costs a bit more unsure whats involved.

Then theres the usual fishtown stuff to do after.

Buses are cleaner and more incident free in my experience, but they can be infrequent, depending on the route. They also have to deal with traffic. In the septa app you can use the transitview option to see where buses are on the route live.

I take the broad street line and El because they are much faster to get around and fairly frequent. Just be aware of your surroundings for people who might cause trouble. Yeah youll find some addicts on the train but they keep to themselves in my experience.

Your experience will depend where in the city you move to, center city gets more frequent service than far flung neighborhoods.

Maybe try finding the white pages/phonebook for that year, people's addresses used to be listed. Although its possible thats too early for them to be published or phones were too luxury at the time.

If there still is one, the research/reference desk at a Philadelphia library is where i would start.

You could also check the 1940 or 1950 full census data.

2nd Street is fine from spring garden to girard, super gentrified, if you are south of spring garden im not as familiar. There isnt much south other than one condo building and crazy intersections.

Many nightlife places to checkout, standard tap has been around forever, the abbaye over on 3rd, urban village brewery up towards girard, heritage, etc.

I would be aware of your surroundings at the 95 overpass at spring garden station, sometimes people hangout there. Also for spring garden station itself, exit on the south side where the entrance is. The north side exit has a blind uturn that people relieve themselves or hangout in and you can't see them from the top of the stairs.

Inspection in nj is emissions only, check engine light needs to be off and the emissions cycle as ready (so you can't just reset the computer right before the check), they just plugin to obd2.

Takes 5-10 minutes if theres no line.

Its free at state inspection places.

License registration insurance

https://pweb.nj-cleanair.com/waitqueue/pages/facility/home.jsf has webcams to show the line at all the locations.

Oh yeah, they also pressure test your gas cap.
