It's hard. The vast majority of friendships I have formed as an adult haven't really endured. A few have, but largely they only last as long as whatever shared thing you have expires. At my last job, I made quite a few friends. Played volleyball with one person, went to the bar a few times with him and another guy we work with. Once I stopped working there, I stopped talking to most of those people. Some text messages here and there, but that is it. I have tried to keep up a bit, but ... it just always kind of fizzles. Hell, there is one person I thought I was going to be friends with for the rest of my life. But after leaving that job nearly five years ago, I have seen him once. Last text messages between us were from six months ago.

I did stay close to one of my colleagues after leaving that job, but he died ~2.5 years ago.

Most of the people I talk to regularly are people I have known for 20+ years.

I was pretty flagrantly against body cameras for a while. But I have a friend I respect a lot that made some good arguments for them. Between that and seeing how they can be used to expose cop behavior, I am 100% on board. Mandatory body cameras for every officer.

Ideally, an independent company or companies that store and encrypt all footage, that police would have no ability to access — but that is probably a “pie in the sky” idea.

I live near Hartford so I don't go near 95 very often (maybe a few times a year, and almost never during rush hour). I would be happy to use alternate transportation if was viable, but it isn't. Getting to my job is about 25 minutes in my car. If I were to take public transportation, it is closer to two hours -- and that is only one way.

Since I've becoming a homeowner, there was one fall where I didn't touch the leaves. My wife had just had a back surgery, so I was on full time parent-and-home-duty -- all while still working.

Come spring, my lawn was pretty much completely clear of leaves anyway.

This happens all over reddit. Some topics don't have enough to post and talk about to satiate the amount of interest on reddit. So you end up with these lopsided chunks of time where something interesting is done to death. This is compounded by the fact that posts with photos are the most engaged with to an overwhelmingly staggering degree.

I was a member of the monitors subreddit for a bit. Lots of complaints about what people were posting (like troubleshooting). As it turns out, monitors are hardly interesting enough to warranty multiple daily posts.
