I haven't made up my mind yet. I wanted to hear others' ideas. I would love a lot of these ideas if I was in fifth grade, but I am just concerned my 5th graders wouldn't find it quite as scintillating. They are a tough group to please, so I want to make sure we don't have further behavior issues.

I teach 5th grade in Baltimore City. Make sure you get advice on which schools to apply to/contact. I’ve been in the worst of the worst and now I’m in a good school in the city. It’s still tough on a daily basis. It isn’t for the faint of heart. I love my kids and the job, but it’s never an easy pursuit.

Yeah, my kids that don't like reading, which, sadly, is the majority of them, definitely don't read at home. The ones that do love reading have parents who show them how important and exciting reading can be. I am a book nerd, so I love to read childrens' fiction and share my favorites with my students.

I wish they’d tear down the McDonalds on Falls Road and replace it with something beneficial. They steal credit cards and it leads to so much trash in the area. People throw entire fast food bags and food out the window on Buena Vista regularly. It makes me so angry.
