I've also seen it in Sci-Fi a couple of times. It's a decent way of altering the preconceptions of racism. What color are you would have a lot less meaning in an era of changing colors.
I think the practical side is pretty cool too. Live at the equator, add more melanin. Live in the higher latitudes remove it.
Another practical version may even be more than fashion. I have read a Zebra's stripes are an effective way of reducing insect bites. I think melanin stripes would look awesome and I could just say it's to keep the mosquitoes away.
Could melanin be used like tattoos? I guess that would be hard to do just by gene modifications. Maybe localized genetic editing at the dermal layer by nanobots.
I guess now, I want cat eyes that can see in the dark, and melanin tiger stripes. Once genetic modifications become a normal reality, people will get pretty weird with it, I'm sure.

Wasn't Huawei the super evil company that tried to steal or spy on everybody?

Well as a concerned Redditor, who isn't really helping at all, I say: All of them of course.
Oh wait. I see. Now, I'm sad. So very sad.

If we get to the point where lots of people don't have food then the problem solves itself. Sad but true.
I can't even convince people that trust me to not believe Fox News. It's very frustrating.

The Culture series was fascinating. I always recommend it.

Pretty much. At least all the current hot ones.

Implementing something like Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics" should be a major priority. The singularity is of course a major concern. Anything that can learn at an exponential rate is going be difficult to keep under control for long.

I think the biggest problem with AI is going to be people and how they react to it. So much misinformation on what an AI actually can and cannot do is part of the problem.

The corporation that creates a functioning AGI first is going to be world wide player like we have never seen before. I think the biggest concern is can they control it. The only limitation to it's ability to expand itself is computational power. The future is going to be wild.

Here's a great idea. Let's make AI into teachers and caregivers for all our children. I'm sure that generation will be the best. /s

Agreed. Just casually killing or sterilizing 6 billion people didn't seem like a bad idea to OP. That's pretty fucked up.

No one would survive that scenario. This thought experiment has gone really dark quickly.

I'm no rocketsurgeon, but asking an AI to remove 75% of humanity seems like a bad idea. What if it thinks that means removing 75% of each of us. We might just end up as a bunch of heads in jars. Futurama style. I guess that would sort of be a version of the singularity.

Dr. Seuss was quite the deep thinker. He could set my brain on fire when I was little.
He could have been the best rapper in the known world if he had wanted to.
