Are you talking about the Dolly Parton program? If so, here you go:

"We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve our community over the last five years and share the gift of reading with so many young Pittsburghers. Since launching this program, over 14,000 books were sent to children and their families in our region.

We are sharing this letter with the news that we have spent the entirety of our grant funds supporting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL) program for all City of Pittsburgh residents, and you will be receiving your last book in April 2023. There is nothing you need to do to cancel your membership – that will be done automatically on your behalf. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to find another program host; however, you are welcome to continue checking the Dolly Parton Imagination Library website to see if there are any other new programs serving your zip code. We are also working closely with the DPIL team to find other ways to continue supporting this program because we know how valuable it is for our families of Pittsburgh.

Thank you for your commitment to helping our young people gain the skills and critical reading habits that will help them succeed throughout their lives.  "

Pros: Accessibility to both Frick Park and Schenley Park. You can also get on the jail trail and down to Duck Hollow quickly. My family frequently walks over the Greenfield bridge and into Schenley Park for hikes.

There is a grocery store in the neighborhood (within walking distance depending on where at in Greenfield you end up).

From talking with my neighbors Greenfield K-8 is a wonderful school and I have no issues sending my children there in a few years.

Speaking of children, there are a bunch of playgrounds spread throughout Greenfield so you'll likely be within walking distance of one. Plus, Magee Field has a swimming pool.

Again, depending on where you end up in Greenfield...the views of Downtown and the surrounding areas are amazing. When we were house shopping we looked at a home with a deck out back that had the most picture perfect views.

Cons: The houses are most definitely hit-or-miss. Personally I would put extra scrutiny into any flipped house in Greenfield, there's been a plethora of them recently and some are just horrible. However, there are some great homes that just need updated, but they get snatched up quickly.

While there are two distinct business areas in Greenfield and some really nice bars, there isn't a whole lot of stuff "going on". I'm hoping that in the near future with the influx of young people moving in that might change.

Because of the location of Greenfield, many people cut through certain residential streets to get out of the city, so be careful what street you end up on if you have little kids to worry about.

I hope this helps you! You can reach out to me if you have any other specific questions I'm more than happy to talk.

You know, I've put a lot of thought into it, even before this thread popped up. The city could do it on a Sunday, but I'm sure there would be a ton of pushback from football fans.

Of course that brings up Saturday, but typically the Saturday before Halloween is a big party night and people would likely have a problem with that also (more drunk drivers on Saturday evenings).

I think there is really a lot of compromise being made here. I wish a city representative could tell us why they chose the time like they did, but without further information from a representative I'm going to say it was the safest time to do it.

You are entitled to your opinion, but most rush hour vehicle traffic takes place on main thoroughfares which are few and far between residential streets where most kids will trick or treating.

On top of that you have the fact that rush hour typically has heavy traffic which actually would mean that vehicles should be moving slower if anything making it more safe than if it wasn't rush hour.
