Grew up in CT, I kayak fished a ton in the state. Really loved Mashapaug Lake at Bigelow Hollow State Park. Also did Mansfield Hollow, Pachaug Pond, Lake McDonough, and Bantam Lake quite a bit
Also chartered boats for deep sea fishing, but it wasn't often as it's expensive. But fun for a treat! Went after striped bass

Reply to Are there any hats similar to a cowboy hat that I can wear in the northeastern US without looking weird? by Thro-it-a-way
Grew up in CT, it wasn't super common but there were people that wore them (I was in a semi-rural town.) An old guy I knew when I worked at Dunkin wore one every day. My dad had a straw one he used for fishing, and sometimes wore it generally. CT is very live and let live, I doubt people will care. You will see cowboy hats at the Big E and the RV show that takes place on the Big E grounds too, lol.

Had some good times here. We'd throw an air mattress and pillows in the back of the SUV, go pick up a pizza, and bring it in.
