Don't worry about the number of books you read. The number is less important than what you got from those books. Personally, I try not to focus too much on how many books I read, because I find that encourages me to stay away from books that are slower or take longer, and those are usually my favorites at the end of the year.
Just like everything else, social media has turned reading into something where you compare yourself to some "ideal" of a reader. There's no such thing. The most important and valuable thing about reading is the relationship you build between yourself and the book.

Yep! ... absolutely essential to the functioning of society. We were basically still apes until we had VPs.

Everyone knows we can't have a transportation system without the VP of operations. All companies would fail without their VPs because they are the only ones that do any work. The trains build, drive and repair themselves, but if you dont have that one person who runs the finances, the whole railroad company, and then after that the whole country will collapse

Reply to Reading Resolutions: 2022 by AutoModerator
This year I want to read more "random" picks, by which I mean I want to find more books by browsing through used book stores or actually going to the library and perusing the shelves, rather than picking out what I want to read in advance and getting it from Libby/buying it new.
I've started to feel like my reading list is curated by Goodreads and has become kind of bland and predictable. I'm sure I will still read some of the "hyped" books, but I'd love to surprise myself more this year and find some hidden gems.

Remember that you can renew! I currently have a book that has been very slow going for me. I've renewed it twice, and I think I'm going to make it to the end this time, haha!

I use Goodreads for this as well. Then when I'm trying to decide what to read, I look through lists based around the current theme or genre I'm wanting to read and all the books on that list that are already on my TBR are clearly marked for me. It makes it so much easier to narrow down my choices and actually read the books from my TBR.

For me, paper is for books I want to read again (and again) and digital is for books I am not sure, or are fluffy books that I will likely only read once. If a digital book is a surprise favorite, I'll buy a physical copy.
Not every book I read needs to be a forever book.

Not really challenges, but I have some goals this year:
- Re-read favorite books I've read before (aiming for 1 per month)
- Read books I own but haven't read yet (also aiming for 1 per month)
- Get books mostly from free libraries, public libraries, and physical bookstores and only buy online as a last resort (and buy from bookshop.org when I do)
