The MBTA has known the stairs were crumbling for years. The station itself is accessible by multiple other at grade and level entrances from the sidewalk.

I mean pretty much everyone responding to you knows what a third rail is and is explaining it to you.

I mean you never noticed all the big signs warning about death and the third rail over the third rail?

Well, technically they are fully replacing the rolling stock and signals on the orange and red as we type. Unfortunately it's all gone to shit and years behind.

It's fairly obvious to anyone who uses a subway.

The MBTA does fall under the executive/governor as it is under the MassDOT umbrella, and the governor selects the MBTA's manager, and, at least under Baker directly appoints the members of the board of directors who have direct oversight. The legislature controls funding/purse. It very much is on both parties. That said, Healey has been governor for like 2 weeks and immediately launched a search for a new GM. Nothing she can really do at this point and trying to put the current MBTA's problems on her is laughably stupid.

I mean it can be done and it's possible to do. Just not possible for the MBTA to do on hindsight.

I mean thats pretty junior dev level at this point salary wise. probably had stock and bonus on top. If $110k was his total comp must have been right out of college/not in the US.

On $150k, you are looking at probably 40% in taxes (fed+state), social security, and deductions (health care, 401k, etc.

Sounds like its the MBTA's Commuter Rail. It'll get there... eventually (if it doesn't catch fire in the snow first).

Probably few or none, given that voter fraud is not an issue here in MA, nor is it in the country as a whole and other states have given undocumented immigrants licenses without having them also registered to vote. You realize we already give licenses to immigrants and permanent residents who also aren't eligible to vote, right?

Kind of the brilliant part though - Delta Dental was basically the only entity seemingly running ads for the No vote. It would be like Comcast being the only opposition, and I bet it might even go 80-20 just be cause of that.

Too bad most of our illegals here in Boston aren't from Mexico. Many are from Ireland though - maybe we need to build a wall...

Nah. The T has objectively gotten significantly worse as I've gotten older. It was actually pretty good back in the day.

As of 2012, you need 25 years of service and be at least 55 years old to retire, and the T is currently trying to bump that to 65. Nice try, though, at least we know what Howie Carr's Reddit burner account is.
