Where do you work and how often do you have to be there? Commuter rail will get you to South Station, hopefully the times work for you.

A friend bought in Holbrook during the pre-Obama real estate bubble. Holbrook took longer to recover property values than places closer to Boston. I’d bet the same is true of other places, but something to keep in mind.

Check for rentals in Quincy. You probably can't get into any of the brand new buildings at your price point, but you might find older units available in your range. Quincy is right on the subway and commuter rail lines that take you to the South Station/Financial District area.

If you like Greenleaf and don't mind a car ride get a reservation for the Thompson House Eatery in Jackson. It's all farm to table / scratch cooking. Great stuff.

I would not recommend camping in New England in October unless you’ve got great gear and have experience cold weather camping.

October is when New Englanders struggle to go another night before turning the heat on in the house.

Downtown has some good choices if you want to splurge on dinner. If you want something more economical eat in Chinatown.

Park at the Hyatt.

OP - unfortunately you’re going to have to move to the ‘burbs or move to a big city in a state that has not legalized weed. Google can tell you where it is/isn’t legal.

You can have a pretty good life out in the ‘burbs along the subway or commuter rail.
