It's interesting then that all the countries in the world with the highest median income are all capitalist countries. It's almost as if you don't have the faintest idea of what you're talking about.

We don't have the ability to lump all the costs on Russia because they have nukes, unlike Germany in 1919. We do have the ability to have them contribute $300 billion though. Like you said, that won't be enough. Ukraine and their backers will have to cover the rest.

The same thing happens when you dump a ton of money in the US. NYTimes reported that an estimated 15% of the $800 billion of PPP money was fraud. This is the reason why an audit mechanism is important.

The West has frozen something like $300 billion of Russian central bank assets. That might not be enough to cover reconstruction, but it's a good start. All that's needed is a mechanism to transfer that money to Ukraine (e.g. Ukraine sues Russia in some international court).

I've never voted for a single Republican candidate in my life. I'll get that preamble out of the way. With that said, I'm a brown man who's been to Staten Island on several occasions and never experienced anything like this:

Also, the layoffs are happening in two of their businesses (consumer and Alexa) which have never been profitable. They have always been money losing businesses that have simply been subsidized by AWS.

I'm pretty certain that's the entire point - to limit investment from potentially hostile foreign state-owned firms.
