Reply to I finally decided to see the first Saw film after all these years. Mixed reaction. by Any-Satisfaction-770
Very entertaining, despite some flaws (editing, hokey acting, etc).
Obviously, despite the low budget, you could tell the filmmakers had a lot of talent. Considering who James Wan and Leigh Whannell are today.

Netflix has a deal with Sony (one of the few studios that doesn't have its own streaming service).
Sony's films will usually end up on Netflix four months after theatrical debut. Exceptions are mega-hits like Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Reply to I don’t understand the reviews of Fatman (2018) Vs. Violent Night (2022) by ProbablyASithLord
Gibson and Goggins are fine in Fatman but the movie felt like a 30 minute TV special stretched to full-length.
Bad pacing, a lot of filler scenes with barely a plot. The scenes with the elves had some good ideas about the commercialization of Christmas but it just wasn't really compelling.

Reply to The Decline of British Blue Collar Stories On Screen: 25 years since NIL BY MOUTH first hit screens, Gary Oldman’s film has become a relic of a time when working-class stories were major cinematic events. What happened? by Bullingdon1973
One of the most recent I've seen is The Selfish Giant (2013), about two poor teenagers who start working at a junkyard for a shady scrap dealer.
Very good movie but depressing and not fun to watch.

Moscow Heat sounds like a fake movie from Seinfeld or Tropic Thunder.

The birds and the bees scene still makes me laugh, due to Daniel Stern's facial expressions.

That movie got bad reviews and was a box office dud.
But I rewatched it as an adult and it still holds up, solely due to Daniel Stern's comedic performance.

It's rated PG-13 so not exclusively a kids movie.

The Night Before (1988) with a young Keanu Reeves is like a teen version of After Hours

Reply to It sucks that Found Footage gets such a Bad rap. IMO ,when done right, it's my favorite and one of the most effective forms of Horror Media. by Fuzzman2012
The Last Exorcism gets a bad rap due to its ending but it was a mostly enjoyable film with a charismatic lead performance.
I also liked Cloverfield, As Above So Below, and Noroi: The Curse.

Reply to comment by flamagramma in The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega And Barry Keoghan To Star In New Film From Trey Edward Shults by DemiFiendRSA
All of the Weeknd's music videos are pretty much works of art.
His sensibilities seem to align with auteurs like Trey Edward Shults and Safdie Brothers (Uncut Gems supporting role).
