Yep, and the relevant part (the parent / guardian has to reasonably explain what part and why it's offensive) is quite vague.

At least the bill states that the parent / guardian has to have a child enrolled in the school.

This bill will require, by law, a service to exist that has existed (or at least did when I went to school in the 80's and 90's).

This just isn't New England. I lived in south Florida for 10 years and all the older neighborhoods have above-ground wiring and the areas won't spend the money to put them underground, even though hundreds of poles and countless wires will go down with each hurricane - and the newer areas with underground lines are usually quick to get their power back since there's no individual repairs.

>People are largely hostile to anyone from out of state buying homes here.

I've also seen the opposite - people moving here from out of state being very hostile and pretentious towards the people who grew up here.

Also, more than once I've heard this from someone who moved here from Mass:

I moved here because I don't like the way Mass is run. Also, the state is run the wrong way, it needs to be run like Mass.

If Gunstock - you can drive around the Lake (Winnipesaukee) in a day (a few hours if you don't stop often).

From Gunstock:

Route 11 into Alton Bay (scenic), swing around to 28A north (turn left, go over the bridge, then take a left) and stay on that to the end at 28. Take 28 north (turn left) into downtown Wolfeboro (scenic, shopping). Take 109N through Tuftonboro and at the end in Moultonboro, turn left (25 west). Take that through Moultonborough, Center Harbor, and into Meredith (scenic and shopping). Take route 3 south into Weirs (if you want to stop at Funspot (arcade) it's fun) for some scenes and maybe some shopping / lake side (not sure how much is open). Then, 3 south to 11 back to Gunstock.

You can also do the reverse (start in Weirs as opposed to Alton Bay)

You can also take 16 (to the southern part of Conway) or 93 north (to Lincoln) to the Kancamagus highway (very scenic drive through the mountains but it might be snowy / ice in early March) or take 16 north into Conway (scenic / shopping).

Not sure if you're Eversource but I would think it's fairly standard, but YMMV:

https://www.eversource.com/content/nh/residential/account-billing/manage-bill/about-your-bill/understanding-my-bill/understanding-supply-and-delivery-charges

TL;DR and oversimplified:

  1. The cost to bring it from the source / supply to your local system
  2. The cost of maintaining your local supply system
  3. Government fees (etc.)

It's what happened to Andrew Luck (retired quarterback for the Colts)- one of the reasons he retired was because he was "mentally worn down" - and people ridiculed him for it.

>I know it's probably not in the average home budget, but a Generac whole home generator is so crucial for Maine winters.

I'll second a whole house generator with the auto-transfer. We just had one put in (plus 120-gallon tanks) over the past year and it was a life saver this weekend. The power was out for about 30 seconds to a minute and it came on.

As for solar panels - you can get some that are small and have suction-cups to go on windows and can (slowly) charge mobile electronics - I think you can find them on camping supply stores or on Amazon (a quick look on Amazon I see many under $50 but these do not have batteries (or if they do it's a small one), just for charging).

Someone has been calling a lot of police departments reporting them.

Sad that they're hoaxes - and I hope they find out who is behind it.

Phone number harvesting.

A list of active phone numbers (that are answered) is more valuable than a general list (like email address lists).

.. and it's easy to get a 603 number either via VoIP or spoofing local numbers (illegal in NH - but can't really be enforced).

My general rule - if I don't recognize the number I let it go to voicemail.
