They are what is known as a stellar nursery. Inside these pillars of gas stars are being formed in truly breathtaking numbers. Looking up close you can see the young stars shining through the clouds.
Sadly they no longer exists. The light we are seeing is about 7000 thousand years old and in those years they've probably been blown apart by the stellar wind of all the stars that have formed inside them.

This is a cool thing. Framework make a cool laptop that I'd have bought if it was available in my area while I was shopping for a new laptop.
The SSD in the Steam Deck is a bit of an uncommon form factor, so getting high capacity drives from a reputable seller is a good thing in my book. The price is hefty, but this isn't a large market. Honestly, the price just makes it more believable to me. If you see an SSD from a company you don't know with a capacity that sounds too good to be true for the money then it's usually a fake.

It's a fun thing he's talking about pirating his games. Steam basically killed the PC gaming piracy scene (or reduced to next to nothing). GabeN understood that piracy was never a pricing problem, but a convenience problem.
When it is easier to hack a game to work than it is to buy it then you're doing something wrong. So Steam just makes getting a game and getting it to work about as easy and painless as possible. (Outside of maybe GoG with their no DRM policy, but their selection isn't quite as big.)

Basically the default here in Europe for a 4090. They're starting at €2000. 4080s are looking at €1800 or €1900 ball park.

Nvidia are making a really good argument to go with AMD here. If 7900 XTX performance comes close enough to what a 4090 can do while using about 100 watts less and costing only two thirds the price then it should be a no-brainer (unless you really need CUDA for something).

I love that clip. It's so out of left field and a reference that went completely over my head as a kid. Nowadays it just makes me wanna go and watch the movie again.

I'm a history student, you're doing a great job selling me on the book. If it's a bit like The Illiad and Odyssey then I should be able to handle it.

I did read Lord of the Rings when I was 15 and Dune last year (another series I need to read more of). Got sucked into The Odyssey and Illiad a bit in the meantime. Those last two are something alright. I think I should be able to handle it if I put my mind to it.

My main take away from this is that I really need to sit down and read The Silmarilion. I've picked up little bits and pieces of the book over the years through people who are way deeper into Tolkien than me and from my understanding it's both his hardest to read and his most awesome work. Like, every little bit I hear about it sounds like it was downright inspired.
It never ceases to amaze me how complete and consistent of a work Tolkien produced in his lifetime. Has one wonder just how much more awesome he could've added to it if he got around to finishing some of it.

Dude has to be the coolest 90+ year old on the planet. Was there blazing the trail of space exploration, was one of the few people to set foot on another world. I hope he lives long enough to see people set foot on the moon once again.
