I wouldn’t say Woodley Park is super popular for people in their 20s because its pretty expensive compared to some other areas in NW DC, but if you’ve found a good deal there you should consider going for it. Its close to Adams Morgan and its just one metro stop away from Dupont Circle, so you won’t be far from nightlife.

I work in Woodley Park and it seems like it would be a nice place to live. I wish I could live there and be 5 minutes from my job. The only thing I haven’t really seen around there is a big grocery store, but that applies to a lot of other areas of DC too.

After a day or so of refreshing globalentrynow.com earlier this month, I snagged a slot at the DC location in early January. You just have to be a combination of lucky and fast. Also, fwiw it seems like the Baltimore location has open appointments more often than DC and Dulles, but I’m not sure how convenient it is.

It might help people be able to give you advice if you have a specific budget you plan on sticking with. Being “comfortable” is difficult to define, but people will be able to say whether its realistic for you to pay X for rent, Y for groceries, Z for transportation, et c every month depending on the area you want to live in.

I moved here from a town where my rent was $450 per month in 2020, so budgeting for city life was a major adjustment for me. I used to not spend much money on entertainment because there was never anything going on. Now that I live somewhere where there’s a million things to do, I spend a lot more on entertainment (mostly concerts). It would suck to move somewhere like DC and then never be able to go anywhere with an entry fee because you’re spending 90% of your income on necessities. Even if you’re fine living that way now, its different when your favorite singer is coming to a concert venue 2 miles from your apartment. (This is assuming you’re moving from somewhere with a lower cost of living, not Manhattan or something)

I almost got hit by a secret service cop speeding down Connecticut yesterday morning. It was like 10 seconds after the light turned red, I was in the middle of the road, and he didn’t have turn his siren on until afterwards. The police do not care about pedestrian safety here, so I think you’re out of luck. Even if they fined the driver they wouldn’t enforce the fine anyway.
