I was going to comment the same thing.
I was unemployed a couple times and had to do a lot of self reflection and reevaluating my self worth as someone brought up in the US. I was lucky and had a good support network around me, a good degree, and enough money to get by but it still took some soul searching and work to feel not ashamed and to allow myself to feel like I'm still allowed to be happy.

A large amount of people believe that major cities are akin to no man's lands. They live in a completely different reality.
One night I was out at a party with a group of friends, and one of their SOs is one of those people that are convinced cities are warzones. While walking back after the parry we saw a man get in his car. What I and everyone else in the group saw was a guy having to jiggle his keys a bit to get the door unlocked and get in his car, what they saw was some dude deffinitively stealing a car in a lawless hellscape they were lucky to have walked through unmolested.

Reply to Lyrics or the music? by meganelizabethjade
I primarily listen to the instrumentals when I listen to music. Focusing on the words and stringing them together to form paragraphs takes active engagement from me and detracts from listening to the instrumentals, which I enjoy more anyway. I listen to a ton of different types of music, but this is the reason why genres like rap are just not something I particularly enjoy unless the song has a lot of good beets and other sounds.
