Just try and stay out of a CA neighborhood if you can, plenty around the area that are outside of it but still in Columbia.

River hill, Marriotts ridge, Glenelg if you can afford to live out in west county, less risk of redistricting due to those schools being less crowded. Centennial/hebron are also great schools. Below that I would say Atholton/Howard are also nice. In Howard county it’s all about wealth when it comes to schools, the better the schools rank the more expensive it is to live in the district and less affordable housing (apartments) or none at all.

The idea that we in Columbia can commute to Tyson’s or further for work is insane. It’s not many miles but all those hours in traffic is wild. Ask your employer for relocation assistance or allow remote work.

I completely agree, the county has done a great job at keeping apartments out of west county and therefore keeping lower income families from utilizing these areas/schools. That needs to change but don’t see Clarksville and Glenelg all of a sudden allowing that.

I was born and raised in EC and now live in Columbia. Both are great, Columbia is cheaper and has more to do with parks and merriweather and downtown is really getting built up but worse schools overall (Wilde lake, Oakland mills, long reach, Hammond). and EC has no CA fees but and better schools (centennial/Hebron/Marriotts ridge) but costs a good bit more. More stuff to do in Columbia but again it is only a short ride from EC. Both are great for families.

Very expensive but very nice place to live and raise a family. The winters are fairly mild overall with little meaningful snow or ice each year maybe 2-5 days worth. Really it’s usually only January-early March where we get super cold days and any potential accumulation

Reply to Dopest Outdoor Dining Spaces in HoCo by trigatch4
Turn house has a nice patio with hood course views, walrus oyster house at the mall has a nice indoor/outdoor area and union jacks as well by the mall. There is a spot in the hotel at lakefront that looks to have outdoor seating overlooking the lake, think it’s called LaK? Another one would be manor hill brewing companies farm have their beers/seltzers plus pizza on site now and frequent food trucks.
