It’s only weird if you make it weird. Society at large used to be run on verbal storytelling. It’s only been very recently that humanity as a whole has gotten away from being mostly verbal storytellers. We do this instead of watching TV and have discovered it’s far more intimate.

I started reading novels out loud to my wife in the evenings about five years ago and haven’t looked back. We’ve read quite a few books in that time.

My wife and I are currently reading Eon by Greg Bear. The book seems lot more prescient in light of all that’s going on right now.

Reply to TIL in response to infamously high suicide rates at Mapo Bridge in Seoul, South Korea, the bridge was adorned with suicide prevention messages and uplifting photos. Maybe they should fix the working conditions at Samsung.

Hard to quantify, but yes, I would consider them part of the tech community. They (used to) hire scads of software engineers, developed the Bootstrap front end framework, among other things.

No worries. You did say it’s kind of cool, which it is. I highly recommend reading out loud to your SO if they’re open to it.
