Probably everyone else read the title correctly. But just in case, Sanctions Man is not a person.

The practice of using foreign lawyers has been part of the Hong Kong legal system for a few hundred years: both prosecution and defense use them regularly.

In this case we have Lee, who asked HK courts for the power to refuse foreign lawyers and was told that goes against HK law: the HK Court of Final Appeal told him no.

So he went to the CCP and got approval that way instead.

I don't know if there is an official comment from Taiwan; but they have meetings more than once a month and President Tsai Ing-wen has asked for Japan's security assistance.

Yonaguni is not a disputed island. It is about 65 miles east of Taiwan, a little closer than the Chinese mainland.

It would probably be used in a joint-operation to defend Taiwan. The locals in Yonaguni have mixed feelings about this: they don't want to be caught up in a war; but they are tired of Chinese aggression.

It isn't mentioned in the article, but I believe we are discussing Mitsubishi Type 03 Medium-Range SAMs. There has also been discussion of bolstering drone defenses. The article mentions an electronic warfare unit as well.
