Perm is short for Permanent. They don’t have to use curling irons every day. Obv you’ve never gotten a perm, and may not know anyone who has, they aren’t very popular anymore. Despite the name, you still have to get a perm redone from time to time tho

Well, for what it’s worth the person who said this quote is a well known Buddhist, and doesn’t particularly believe in god, and has a few answers that might offer some help along your journey if you feel like looking into his work

Agreed! I think it’s metaphorical - from “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance” by Robert Pirsig. That peace & zen does not come externally, but something we must cultivate inside ourselves individually
