.... clothes are a wear item. A jacket maybe, that I could understand. But feeling upset that a company won't help you without a receipt for a pair of 7 year old jeans.... I dunno man.

I've never owned a pair of pants of any fabric that I haven't worn through the crotch or blown out the crotch in less than 3 years.

That said, and it's not jeans, but LuluLemon is hands down one of my favorite companies for clothes for men. I just had 2 pairs of pants replaced for free after 3 years because the crotches blew out.

1 of those pairs of pants was a replacement for a replacement that was also free like 3 years before that. So I've had 1 pair of pants that they have replaced twice after I have utterly thrashed them. Hard to argue with.

ABC Classic straight leg pants from Lulu. Cannot recommend them enough.

Klean Kanteen

Here is mine: (turn sound on, and you'll be able to hear my dulcet tones giving a testimony.)

99% stainless. 1% silicone gasket. 100% indestructible. I have a couple of them. They are bombproof. The one in the imgur link I've had for almost a decade, and it's my daily driver.

The gasket on any bottle eventually gets gross. You jsut call Klean Kanteen and they send replacement gaskets to you for free. I've replaced the gasket once per year since I've owned this bottle.

Largely this.

You've touched on a few of my favorite little aphorisms.

Buy nice, or buy twice.

Always spend good money for anything that comes between you and the earth. Buy good tires, good sheets, and good shoes.

Another one for me is:

If you want something, buy the cheapest version of it you can find, and if you use it enough to break that, then go buy the expensive version.

In short, I try to just say no to buying things. But when I do buy something, I buy the best quality I can find.

I have a pair of boots that I had custom made for my feet. They cost me $800. They are the best shoes I have ever owned, They are going on 4 years, and will likely go for another decade. Well, well worth the money spent. If I get 15 years out of them, that's $53 per year. I spend more than that on impulse buys at registers.

I'm just gonna +1 the olukais.

I have a pair of the leather slippahs as well.

I'm....hard on shoes. Especially flip flops.

I will regularly use them to the exclusion of all else.

Going on vacation? Well, I need plane shoes. Travel shoes. Water shoes. Bike shoes. Sightseeing shoes. Hiking shoes. Out for dinner shoes. I bring 1 pair of flip flops.

My olukais have been up mountains, down rivers, through cities. They are the only slippahs that have lasted more than about 3 months for me. And they finally failed after 3 years.

I just bought a replacement pair 6 months ago.
