Glitter allegedly comes to my block once a month (not that I have noticed a difference) because we can’t afford more and they force us to subsidize neighboring blocks. Trash collection comes to our block every week and has maybe been a day late once in the last year.

They were making special trips/stops specifically for Glitter pickup. They can just drop them off on any street with trash pickup that day and problem solved. This feels like such a nonissue.

Okay so let Glitter workers unionize. Problem solved.

Since 2005 (excluding the 2020/21 covid Oscars) the only Best Picture winner released in December was The Shape of Water which came out commercially on December 1st but debuted in August at the Venice International Film Festival and had industry screenings throughout September, October, and November. December is far too late to release a movie for serious awards contention anymore.

It is a touch early from a more traditional October date but as the article points out the date likely points to a TIFF (or maybe Venice Film Festival) debut which is a big launching point for awards season
