Pretty common, but not necessarily something you want to see either.

My guess is no. Just like if you paid for part with any other kind of payment.

You only get the discount if you use your linked account to pay for the gas.
It’s based on the linked account, not just the card.

State Police collect pensions. Lots of pensions.

Have you been living under a rock?
The big debate over charging municipalities without police for state police coverage is all premised on being able to pay for state police without dipping into the fuel tax revenues as they have for years now.
Maybe try a couple states that are a bit bluer and not a thousand miles away. New York? Massachusetts? PA is cheaper than both.

It can get pretty nasty in Tyrone and it gets rural around there real fast with much bigger mountains.

Really because a huge chunk of the DOT funds goes to pay for pensions for state employees.
That’s not a corporation.
Also do you think those natural gas rates are higher because of democratic or Republican actions in PA?
The cheapest natural gas isn’t found in blue states, that’s for sure.

With natural gas isn’t the residential rate in PA pretty much middle of the pack in the US?
As for the gasoline tax that’s the result of borrowing against those funds for decades and never putting the money into the repairs and updates early enough. Now instead of fixing bridges they have to totally replace them.
That’s government, not corporations.

It’s not always better with the municipally owned systems.
Often times the rates are lower but that is for political reasons while the systems deteriorate.

Yeah that is to my point. Wegman’s isn’t staying out if the city because of a big conspiracy.
It’s just not their business model.

I think it’s a bit of the Sheetz vs GetGo thing too. There is a philosophical difference involved when locating stores in urban settings.

Also it’s worth noting where Wegman’s builds. Even in their home town I think only 1 store is actually inside Rochester city limits with a couple just outside near the border.
In Buffalo they have 1 store in the city and it’s in the fancy part of town.
Wegman’s is a suburban store- not urban.
Now look at the handful of GE’s you can find in neighborhoods throughout Pittsburgh. In the city itself. They are different creatures.

I think Wegman’s knows what they are doing. They faced plenty of hurdles around Buffalo many years ago when they had to deal with Tops who had a long established homefield advantage and plenty of deep connections to local developers who controlled much of the available land.
Over time profits outweighed loyalty and Wegman’s is very established there and I’d say it has supplanted Tops entirely in the WNY market.
I feel like people imagine many of these conspiracies without appreciating how challenging it is for a grocery story to expand its footprint and supply chain.
I also wouldn’t compare a typical Wegmann’s to a regular Giant Eagle, but instead a Market District.

There is no escaping the property taxes, but I do think it’s wrong to unequally apply those taxes.
The “newcomer tax” is unfair because it’s not uniformly applied and even moreso due to the manipulation of the common level ratio to shift the tax burden to newer owners or newer homes.

But what if you sell it to them for $150k but it’s “really” worth $180k?
Gifts of equity and seller concessions happen all over the place.
Penny more, penny less becomes less of a good standard real quick.

In California you can lock in your property taxes in perpetuity or even transfer them to another property. It’s ridiculous.
