My wife reminded me the other day that every February since we moved here I go through my mild stretch of weather meltdown, cry winter is over, then get dumped on in March. Climate is def changing, but its going to take some time to get from where we are now to hiking and mountain biking in March, like my toddler nephews probably won't need to teach their children how to ski, Stowe won't cease to be a ski resort in my lifetime.

We are in a La Nina winter, our third in a row, these tend to be more mild and more unstable, but we can still get some solid snow out of them, Feb 2021 is one of the best months of Skiing I can remember, refills day after day. Hope that happens again this Winter, pray to Ullr

When we got our home inspection the guy doing it showed up carrying a firearm, my wife kindly asked if he'd leave it in his truck, when he came back from putting it away he explained he had just come from orange where i definitely remember him saying something like "people in that area have shot at my truck when i'm on dirt roads heading to inspect houses" and making the sound like bullets whizzing by

My #1 complaint in VT is people cutting left turns at intersections, I am amazed my left headlight is still intact considering how many times I've almost been clipped by people who don't know how to make a proper left turn.

Wegmans sells a lot of overpriced gourmet things, but that's hardly the majority of items in the store. Their fresh food (sushi, subs, soups, pizza, etc.) is miles above any other grocery store, I worked near a Wegmans for 10 years after college and basically was there for lunch 2 to 3 times a week, would never get lunch at hannaford or shaws, although the Market 52 sushi is okay. But that said, they sell plenty of bargain priced items of good quality, in particular their store branded canned goods, frozen seafood, lunch meat/cheeses, and pantry items. Also their bulk section is way better priced for as good quality as City Market/Wealthy Living.

Wife and I net around 80 and own a house in Franklin County, this house sat on the market for four months, we spent two months mulling it over, but this was at the very onset of Covid and the housing market here is a lot different now. For one, houses in my town are selling for ~160 to 180K more than what we paid for ours, and then interest rates, so becoming a homeowner right now on 80K doesn't sound good, you'd probably need to plan to rent. I have no idea what rents are like in '22 but when we moved here we paid 1600 for a 2 bedroom in Chittenden County and we were fine, had enough to afford a ski pass and budget our lives to pay the bills. Great part about VT is that from, call it late May to (well, this is changing, I'd say based on recent years call it Dec) you can enjoy the outdoors and that doesn't cost anything, until Skiing time of course. As others have said, number one thing to think about is heat source & cost, we have propane but I invested in a pellet stove and use that as my primary heating source, spend about $500-600 to heat the house in Winter, way cheaper than gas.

Climate Change is absolutely a factor but we are entering our third la nina Winter in a row as another commenter mentioned so its going to be very erratic, I moved here fall of 2017 we had decent snow in December and was brutal cold that Winter, 2018 and 2019 both years I was on the mountain by Dec 1st with good natural snow, I specifically remember that big fall dumpage in 2018 mid-Nov and we also had solid snow by Thanksgiving in 2019 as well cos I remember driving through VT in it to get to the fall Phish shows I went to that year. 2021 Winter was pretty solid despite la nina, I think I did more skiing that Winter than any so far, that February was an absolute snow dump fest. Last year was very erratic, and apparently this one if its similar, you are good for 2 seperate 2-3 week stretches of reliable cold and snow, but a lot of mixed variables otherwise. Personally, if I had to pick one outcome of the several el nina ones, it would be one big stretch like we had Feb '21 where it felt like everyday was fresh refills at the mountain.

States that go as far as to enshrine women's rights in their constitutions are not going to enforce a federal ban, and if a GOP controlled government decided to go all in on trying to enforce a federal ban via withholding federal funding from states that refuse, which would include several battleground states, they will just completely surrender the independent/suburban vote they can't afford to lose. These midterms were a fight for that vote and we just saw how that went.

We have an 1800 sq ft house, I purchased a pellet stove our first winter here and love it. Two tons of pellets heats the home all winter and barely moves the needle on the electric bill. There are also some rebates you can get for buying one. Of course, if you lose power you can't run the stove. I do wish I had a wood stove, maybe someday, but there is no chimney at our house and would have had to pay a lot more to build one to go that route.

I will check out the rec shops for quality edibles, hopefully someone brings in the Garcia family line gummies as those are my favorite, excellent flavor and the perfect dosage at either 5 or 10mg. However until the price on flower drops will continue to get my bud elsewhere, definitely excited to see more shops open up especially in my area.
