Because adults in pain would be able to resolve their suffering? There are some serious issues in the family in that story. That the mom immediately started nonsense on FB when she found out instead of talking to her son raises all sorts of red flags.

Seriously. Our mortgage on our 4BR house (it’s small, ancient and came with tons of issues) is less than a studio apartment.

This is why we left Boston 7 years ago - because rent was out of control ridiculous - but the ridiculous prices have spread everywhere.

It has to stop somewhere, and the newer buildings should be more expensive. But the idea that increasing supply will lower costs is going to hit a barrier because all those overpriced 3-families that sold in the last 3 years aren’t going to magically drop their rent prices because those owners have mortgages to pay on buildings that are probably underwater now.

The west side historically has been home to most of the city’s Jewish population due to proximity to the synagogues. Growing up in the 80’s I went to school on the west side for several years and I was often the only kid in my class on Jewish holidays. And today I have several Jewish neighbors on my small street.

But based on my kid’s school population, the west side is now also home to a large number of Albanians.

I expect they will find ways to resist as long as they can the same way they fought Mobil over the awnings at the gas station in the center of town.

Edit: the only subsidized housing is a tiny elderly/disabled complex, so the selectmen fighting this really only screws those residents and the Worcester Housing Authority. I would LOVE to see the state and WHA sue Holden to force compliance. Stupid Holden.
